Make connections with my own life.
Over the past two weeks, the most important thing I learned is making connections between course materials and my own life, and I will keep this habit even after I leave this course. From week 1 to week 2, I always need to think about the relationship between the articles and my life experience because of assignment requirements. However, after repeating this process many times, I gradually find that I try to connect spontaneously. Also, thinking about the relationship always helps me better understand what the author wants to discuss and the topic of a specific paragraph. Because by making a connection, I will consider sentences from the author's point of view to more accurately understand what the author means.
Examples:
Here is a screenshot of my annotation of Looking into the Magic Mirror, written by Haas and Trapdeo. This annotation aroused my great interest in reading and made me feel closer to this article. By the way, when I empathize with what the author wrote, I will get the author's point more accurately.
Another example is last week's discussion, where I connected gender problems with my childhood experience. From this connection, I can better understand how social construction affect people since they were young. Also, I can better understand how the social construction of gender negatively influence people.
In conclusion, it is necessary for me to connect the articles and myself after learning this course during these two weeks. No matter if I need to write down the connection, I will keep this work in my future writing process.
Hey Gloria, drawing personal connections between your life and the text is essential when composing your own argument. It tells a story from your perspective. Being able to understand and connect to the text is one of the first steps to being a better writer.
With these two weeks of assignments, I am also able to make a connection to my personal experience. I think is not because it is talks about gender but also since there are many things that can make another to reflect to the past.
